Rita Bottoms established archives & curated exhibitions for John Cage, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Al Weber, Kenneth Patchen, Norman O. Brown, Lou Harrison, Robert Heinlein, Graham Nash, Gregory Bateson, Ruth-Marion Baruch Pirkle Jones, Rosalie Sorrels, Morley Baer, George Barati, and Edward Weston, when she was Head of Special Collections at the Library of the University of California, Santa Cruz (1965-2003). She was a trusted friend and confidante to many of these artists, who found in her a kindred spirit.

Rita Bottoms ha fondato archivi e curato mostre per John Cage, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Al Weber, Kenneth Patchen, Norman O. Brown, Lou Harrison, Robert Heinlein, Graham Nash, Gregory Bateson, Ruth-Marion Baruch Pirkle Jones, Rosalie Sorrels, Morley Baer, George Barati, e Edward Weston, quando era Direttore dei fondi speciali della Biblioteca dell’Università della California, Santa Cruz (1965-2003). Di molti di questi artisti, che riconobbero in lei un’affinità di spirito, fu amica e confidente.

 

Giada Diano is a writer and translator with a Ph.D in English and Anglo-American Studies. She has been collaborating for many years with poet and painter Lawrence Ferlinghetti, wrote his biography “Io sono come Omero- Vita di Lawrence Ferlinghetti” (Feltrinelli, 2009) and translated many of his poetry collections. She was the co-curator of the retrospective of his paintings (Lawrence Ferlinghetti: 60 Years of Painting) held in Rome and Reggio Calabria in 2010 and has organized other art exhibitions of his works in Italy. She’s currently working on a book of all his travel journals.

Scrittrice e traduttrice, Giada Diano ha conseguito un dottorato di ricerca in Studi inglesi e anglo-americani. Da anni collabora con il poeta e pittore Lawrence Ferlinghetti, ha scritto la sua biografia “Io sono come Omero- Vita di Lawrence Ferlinghetti” (Feltrinelli, 2009) e ha tradotto numerose raccolte delle sue poesie. Ha co-curato un’ampia retrospettiva pittorica delle sue opere (Lawrence Ferlinghetti: 60 anni di pittura) a Roma e Reggio Calabria nel 2010 e ha organizzato diverse mostre dei suoi lavori in Italia. Al momento sta lavorando a un libro contenente tutti i diari di viaggio di Ferlinghetti.
