Andrea van der Straeten was born in Trier (Germany); she graduated in German literature and the Arts. She works within a wide range of different media: photography, videos, drawings, and installations. Her work may be seen in various private and public collections, among which the Musée d’Art Moderne Luxembourg, and the Museum der Moderne Salzburg. She worked as a visiting artist and lecturer in the Netherlands and the USA, and was head of the Department for Experimental Art at the University of Art and Industrial Design in Linz/Austria for 16 years. Her works are exhibited in Europe, the USA, and China, and she has published several books. Various scholarships allowed her to work at the ISCP in New York, at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, and at the Emily Harvey Foundation in Venice. She lives and works in Vienna, Austria. Her work is represented by Galerie Raum mit Licht in Vienna. www.andreavanderstraeten.net
