Sarra Copia Sulam lived, learned, and created in the Ghetto of Venice in the early seventeenth century. Four hundred years later, three distinguished poets – Meena Alexander, Rita Dove, Esther Schor – revisited her life and works by living in Venice and exploring the Ghetto. This is their poetic tribute to a Jewish woman who defied with her art and pride the conventions of her time and place.
